Description
Tourists watch sunrise at Mt. Huangshan in Anhui, China.
It has become a ritual for tourists to watch sunrise at Huangshan. Flocks of visitors rush to the summit well before the sunrise in an attempt to get the best possible spot.
The local hotels provide winter jackets free of charge to their guests. Of course the winter jackets have no use for a summer day in August.
The chance of seeing sunrise is one sixth. On the train to Huangshan the passenger next to me was telling a story that one of his friends spent 6 days on the top without seeing a single sunrise.
We were blessed. Sunrise at Huangshan was truly spectacular. I was also touched by the excitement of the crowd when the first sunshine hit the ground.
