PIX ON TRIPS: In Pursuit of Inspiring Photos

We are a family of artists and we all enjoy travelling.

Here is what Guoqiang wants to say: Whenever I or my family travel to a place, bringing home exciting photos are always of paramount importance.  We do lots of research before heading out to a destination.  Even though Google is almighty, finding out where has the best chance to produce good photos is non-trivial.  I created this website to share the experiences of our pursuit of inspiring photographs.

I came to Canada in 1998 for a job that further developed my left side of brain.  Although trained to think like a scientist, I found photography more fascinating.  Both science and art require creativity, but unlike science, creative ideas in photography are spontaneous and can be visualized almost instantaneously without the need to be proved scientifically. During the early days in Canada, I would peruse the streets of downtown Montreal with my camera in tow. It was my favourite pastime and my enthusiasm was rewarded with my first feature — a spread on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Montreal, published in a magazine in 1999. The abundance of nature beauty in Canada and the US has seen myself gravitated towards landscape photography in recent years. Landscape photography has trained me to discern minute difference in light quality and have the determination to chase light to its full potential. While beautiful landscape photographs are indeed breathtaking, the blend of landscape photography and photojournalism is the sublime that I will continue to pursue.

I also really enjoy meeting and talking to people, which is why I’m always looking for new experiences and trying out new things.
